Equifax nightmare

Hi,
My bankruptcy was due to fall of my credit file on the 17th October, which is 6 years to the date from when i went bankrupt. however it is still showing on equifax, i emailed them and asked them to remove it, they have emailed back and said i need to send a copy of my discharge certificate before they will remove it! i thought this information dropped off automatically, which it has on call credit and experian!!! is this right? are equifax different?

  • It 'should' have fallen off after the 6 years automatically.

Email them a copy of your Discharge Certificate & that should do the trick.

    Hi,
Thanks for your reply. I was granted an early discharge and don't have a certificate to e mail them. Equifax seem to be making it difficult unlike the other two agencies where it has fallen off with no problems.

Equifax seem to take longer before br comes off.

Are your BR dates correct on Equifax?

Did you not get ED discharge notice? That should be enough, but sending sending a copy of your BR order should suffice.

    hi,
Yes i got a letter from the OR stating my early discharge, however my OH had to wait the full 12 months.

    The dates are showing correctly.

All i want to know is, is this normal practice for Equifax to ask for proof?

I think Equifax used to hold bankruptcies for a lot longer than six years. So perhaps their system is not set up to automatically remove them after six years and they have to do it manually. Either way, I'm sure if you send them proof they will quickly resolve this for you.

    Hi,
Thank you for clearing that up for me. I guess i'm going to have to email them some sort of proof of discharge.
