HELP with a holiday/flight claim from 2010

Hi just wondered if anyone knew a way i could potentially get a refund from a holiday i took in 2010 that my son was unable to go on because of illness it cost us £500(ish) to add him to the booking but he developed chickenpox and had to go back to his mum as he couldnt fly.

I initially went through insurance at the time who said i needed info from airline and booking agent (sunmaster) believe it or not i couldnt get through and they ended up going under despite attempts at calling and emaling.

I have the e-ticket still with all flight details still and there should be evidence he didnt fly am i fighting a lost cause pursuing this now

Any Help Appreciated
