Wednesday 7 November - What small DFW things will you be doing today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important

  • Hello fellow DFW folk, and thanks to ziggy for starting us off today.
It's a Stitching Witch day today, but the first part of the day will be taken up by a doctor's appointment with the results of last week's X-ray. I was dreading taking the motorbike as it's so cold, but a few well aimed hints yesterday and my lovely ex-DIL is coming to pick me up and take me home again :A

    List so far:
    • breakfast from stores
    • fed and watered the chickens
    • made DH a packed lunch - left over curry blitzed into a soup!
    • checked banking
    • washing up done on Economy 7
    • taken basic mince base out of freezer to jazz up for dinner - I cook 10 pots at a time!
    I will also:
    • get a lift to and from Doctor's surgery - it's in the nearest town so too far to walk with an arthritic knee :o
    • use pre-payment certificate for prescription - this has saved me pots of money this year!
    • keep an eye on surveys
    • bake mini Victoria sponges for work tomorrow as I won't buy my birthday cakes from the bakery
    • lunch from stores
    • spend the afternoon in the sewing room - 6 more sock monkeys to make for the Christmas Fair
    • dinner from meal plan/stores - HM lasagne with salad
    • stuff sock monkeys this evening in the living room as it's the one room with heating already on
    • have an NSD
I think that will keep me out of mischief today! ;)

    Hey all!
Lovely to see you all *passes round the biccies*
southernbelle i think they get added at the end of the month, cos you get the big bonuses if you hit the targets (that is certainly what happened with the halloween ones)
stitchy good luck at the docs
orangefairy hope you have a lovely christmas shopping day!
ziggy how you feeling now my lovely?

I did it! i broke my spending spree and had an NSD yesterday, hopefully my first of 3, I've not been spending a lot, just more than I'd like given the coming change in my employ! I'll be debt free but I don't ever want to get into this trouble again, and I shall keep up my DFW ways, and use them to save money!

    So, today I have/will:
    - drinks from here (no buying coffee! 2 days in a row baby!)
    - food from stores (tried a sharon fruit from our veg box this morning - not sure!)
    - clicks and searches (got £10 in amazon vouchers from SB on order!)
    - need to pick up some craft fair gubbins at lunch, need to make some cheapy stocking filler type bits for the kids!
    - write down spends
    - look for surveys (got £20 in amazon vouchers from myvoice this week, more christmas pressies!)
    - phone furniture charity to pick up our sofa
    - look into christmas saver account for next year - thought I'd try and allocate some each month into an account I can't touch, so I spread the cost even more
    - tackle another drawer at work
    - have a quick scout around for freebies and comps
    - cut out material for some christmas presents
    - look at options for redundancy money (ISA's etc)

    That will do me :)
Have a wonderful daty, and remember, it's hump day!!
