Using the Trust website to check for a CCJ?

Hi all i was wondering something i have had a letter from a DCA and it points towards (Wording) that i have a CCJ (I may go into this at a later point).

Anywho when using the trustonline.org.uk website (Can't post links) do i tick the England and Wales Orders & Judgments box for a £4 check and do i use my name and the address i think the CCJ could be from?

Also if they is nothing showing up on the search then i 100% don't have a CCJ against my name?

Cheers for any help x

I would have thought someone would have used the website?
  • I have used trustonline.org.uk to search for CCJs on other people, not myself, but it should work the same if you look for yourself. Yes, you tick the England & Wales box, if that is where you lived, and put in your name and the address against which you think the CCJ would have been registered.

As far as I know the website is up-to-date bar for any judgments given in the last few days as they have to be advised by the relevant Court.

Checked both my old address and new address under my name and nothing came up, the debt is 8 year old but got a letter from a DCA saying "As our Client has already obtained Legal Judgement for this account, if we do not receive repayment proposals from you, we will explore taking further action to 'Execute the Warrant'...

Either there trying one on or the CCJ is over 6 year old and has fell of my record?
  • I am not sure about your last question but as it seems that I am the only one to reply, so here goes. It does seem that any CCJ that hasn't been paid does fall off the record after 6 years (have a look on the gov.uk website (search for "CCJs). As I interpret it, if you have neither acknowledged the debt nor made any payments for 6 years, then you can ignore any payment demands. But if you start paying, then the CCJ will be shown for another 6 years. Perhaps somebody else will come along and confirm that this is correct?

I personally would not acknowledge the letter you have received.

As far as I know, if the creditor asks for a Warrant of Execution, the appointed bailiff will send a letter to you informing you of their forthcoming visit. At that point you can write to the bailiff/Court to say you have no knowledge of any CCJ against you and that you would not allow access to your home as you don't owe anything in your opinion.

    Hope this helps.
  • Thanks for the reply that seems about how i thought it was, if anyone else has anything they could add would be greatly appreciated x
