Ideas for low budget xmas hamper for hubby!

Hello all :)

My hubby and I have decided that for christmas each year instead of buying each other stuff we don't need we'd just set a small budget of £25 and get each other as many little bits as we can to make up a little hamper / box.

I already have a few ideas, got him a few little games, will put socks in, his favourite sweets and bits like that. Might also put some home made vouchers in for things like a lie in (we have a baby and another on the way!) and other daft things like that.

Am also collecting aftershave freebies and bits like that to bulk it up for free :)

I am not the most crafty but would like to have a go at making something, have a sewing machine and abundant craft supplies! I have had a look at the other ideas on a few threads but a lot of the crafty things are more girly than for men.

Just wondered if anyone has any ideas for me or has done anything similar in the past?

Thanks x

Baby handprint on card with a baby/daddy poem next to it. Or footprint alongside this. Shiny photo frame. For a few quid its a keepsake for life! :)
  • Will definitely add that, thanks! Anyone else have any ideas?
  • Do you have time to make a scrap book or something with photos/memories of your little one - you could add the idea above as a page and also put in a few blank pages to include pictures of the little one that's on the way! Maybe the first few pages could be of pictures of you two before the first baby was born? :)

Not sure how old baby is but maybe they could paint a canvas ( not sure where you get blank canvases from though :s) even if it's a few splodges of paint it will still be very cute and something nice to.

  • There is some great ideas on those thank you :) I am definitely set now for crafting ideas.

I have also just bought a case for his android tablet from eBay for 3.50 so just need a few ideas for cheap fillers now. I am definitely going to do the pint of socks idea, but need a few ideas for gifts for a few pounds other than gloves and stuff which he has loads of.

If you speak to someone nicely in a larger Boots and say that you want to get your OH some aftershave for Christmas but not sure what to get him they'll usually give you a few samples.
CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J
  • That's a brill idea. Will defo ask! X
  • Does hubby have any hobbies or interests?
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.
  • He is mid twenties and works in IT, so he likes gadgety stuff. I have bought a lot of novelty bits before like USB gadgets and its funny for 5 mins then stuck on his desk or a drawer. Works long hours so doesnt have a massive amount of leisure and hobby time. He would like to do DIY and wood type crafts but has never had time really.

Not really a music or film buff so they are both out. He's not really interested in clothes and stuff I sort all that out for him :)

He has a treadmill and runs, but I wouldnt say he's a fitness freak. Going to try making one of the holders for his treadmill from one of your links as he always moans he has to find somewhere for his phone or tablet to listen to music when running.

He loves chinese food, spicy food and other foodie things, but I am sure we have most things in those areas. I've bought him chinese cookbooks, wok etc in the past.

He is a big family man and likes time with me and our 1 year old daughter.

    Thats probably no help whatsoever - He's a difficult one :) x
  • How about a zipped pencil case that opens up to reveal elastic strips for holding lots of USB drives?

Or make a personalised USB drive like this with resin. Other ideas here

One of the previous links had how to make ties. You could print some pictures of computing pioneers (Alan Turing, Ada Lovelace etc) on fabric using ink transfer sheets then sew it up into a unique tie. Or do linocuts etc if you're able to.
