Ill health retirement when on temporary contract.

I hope this is the right place to post this and hoping someone can offer me advice.
I work for a local authority and have a developed a permanent illness that will never get better and has no cure. I am unable to walk and this makes it nearly impossible to do my job. Due to this my employer is looking to retire me on ill health grounds
I am 33 but according to the website of my pension scheme I am entitled at any age to a full pension if retired on ill health.
However my boss has said that as I am on a temporary one year contract which ends next year that I would not be entitled to a full pension.
I have worked for my employer for five years with no breaks in different jobs but always on a temporary contract.
I wondered if I would be entitled to a full pension if I was retired due to ill health despite being on a temporary contract? It seems unfair I would be denied this when I have worked for them so long. I understood that employers are not allowed to treat people on temporary contracts any worse than those on permanent contracts?
I have contacted my pension provider to give their views but just wanted to get other people's opinion. Any help would be greately recieved.

My understanding is similar to yours.
However, the financial implications of getting this right are huge in your circumstances.
Can I suggest you go to redundancyforum.co.uk and post a question there for SarEl. She is a vastly experienced barrister specialising in employment law. By all means say I sent you!
She may say you need to get specialist one to one advice. If so, although she will not recommend a particular person, she will tell you what to look for.

My pension provider got back to me quicker than I expected. They said it's irrelevant whether I am on a permanent or temporary contact. It would be exactly the same and I would be entitled to a full pension. Its a great relief.0
