    So you don't need to give your company an official name? I always thought you had to.

    If you're self-employed there is no company.

    If you're a sole trader you can trade under any name (subject to restrictions about not pretending to be a company, using particular words etc) but you don't have to have a trading name.
    A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.
