Bancruptcy yesterday:few questions please!!

Hi all, well my partner went BR yesterday, today he received a phone call from the OR office,he went through quite a few questions with him,i think because he didn'yt have his soa infront of him.It was about 15 minutes long, would this of been the OR himself,my partner seems to think that it was or would it of been the OR assistant,he has a his full interview next wednesday.I just find it strange that the OR would ring today and not someone from his office.

How likely is it that the OR will freeze his post office card account purely for benefits,my understanding is that it will not be,but still worried as our benefits are paid into this.

Thanks for reading.

  • Just to update have just called the number given to enquire who my partner spoke to,i was told that it is the OR examiner and my partner will not speak to the OR just her examiner. Why would this be,Do you think it is because it is a straight forward case mabye?? thanks again.
  • Sometimes its not always the OR you get to speak to personally, it will be their assistant who will collect & collate all the info you've provided. Either way it doesnt matter, I hope his interview goes well on Wednesday ;)

In fact it is almost never the actual Official Receiver you speak to it is almost always aneexaminer. Although we use the shorthand OR on the site we actually mean examiner. There is only 1 OR per area which covers several courts they Srebrenica just the over arching figurehead and don't usually get involved with individual cases unless they are very contentious. Each case has an examiner and a clerk assigned to it. The examiner had to take certain qualifications in insolvency practice to be able to take cases on and there are different levels of examiner for different types of cases. The examiner makes all the decisions on a case which are then signed of or checked by the assistant official receiver who manages a group of examiners. The clerk's simply carry out the admin functions instructed by the examiner

  • thanks for replies, just wondering really is 15 minutes normal on first call,he did say that he didn't have my partners soa yet,but was asking about different debts,my partner suffers with deppression and isn't very good on the phone,i usually deal with everting for him so this is really hard. The reason he got into this debt is myself having cancer and being off work,i am also awaiting 2 more operations for a different illness so life is a struggle at the minute, does he mention this to the OR as this is one of the main reasons he got into debt.
    thanks

Yup! 15 minutes is about right for the first phone call.

He needs to mention anything relevant that got him to the postition he is now in. Sid he not say anything on the reasons for BR section?

Hi,yes he did mention it but felt like the OR examiner was quite abrupt, how would you expect him to act on a first phone call,he was asking him about what his debt was for, when he last paid etc,i thought this would be for the main interview to be honest.:(

he will be classifying how long he needs to alot for your interview, whether you even need one at all or if you would need a telephone one or a face to face one.
