Argos computer table is really sharp, can I get a refund?

Hi,

Sorry if this is in the wrong place but had a good look and think this is ok??

I bought this table http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/6180175.htm from Argos a week ago, my husband assembled it the other day and it is so sharp on the edges and especially the corners, that when I sit at it to use my computer my arms rest on the sides and on the front right hand corner and I've got deep grooves and scratches from the sharp corners. It is a compact workstation and there is only a little bit of room above the leg hole space in which to position my laptop so I cannot move over to avoid the corners.

I know that it is not real wood and is only chipboard but it didn't expect to not be able to sit at it to use it for its purpose!

Am I in my rights to ask for a refund so that I can buy something else? Would they accept a flatpack unit like this back if my husband took it down?

Thanks for your help!

    Part of the Furniture
Not sure on this, looking at the picture it doesn't exactly demostation how to use a PC, keyboard in middle, monitor of to right, place to attempt to put your legs also to the right - not exactly good for the body.

Problem you've got is the item is not designed for laptops which is what you're using it for. If it's causing damage to yourself (ie cuts) then you maybe able to consider the item not fit for purpose, if it's causing temporary pressure marks then it maybe more difficult to have a case.

    Hi

Why don't you ring them and ask ?

I would say that they should refund as its not fit for purpose.

I think you should be ok taking it back

Unless it is exempt from Argos' 16 day money back policy

Hi I got something similar a couple of years back, and have had to get gel-pads,
1 for mouse and 1 for keyboard, to support my wrist's.
so getting a different one isnt the answer unless you go somewhere else and see it up close,
    got the gel-pad's from
    www.ebuyer.com
    quite cheap,

I have the corner computer version from argos and the runners are as sharp as anything..the arm of the chair is slashed and so are my fingers!! Got to keep the kids away from it. But I swapped my original argos workstation(smaller table) with my sister so I can't really say anything...just got to be careful.
