Transferring to a branch in another town

Hypothetical question.
If I was to request (and be given) a transfer to a branch of the retailer I work for in another town, would I then lose my employee rights (worked there five years) and conditions, have to sign a new contract of employment, and/or start over again as a new employee?

Yeah I believe as it's with the same company that it carries on.
Best to check though at interview

If you were still working for the same employer, it would be a transfer and you would still have 5 years' service, moving to another branch of the same company would not change that.
You would probably be asked to sign a new contract as the place of work would change.
But of course of the new branch did not have the same type of work to offer you, and you accepted a different role, then your new contract would reflect that.
Does that answer your question?I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
You will still have your 5 years of service for your employer. I work for a supermarket and I say about a third of colleagues (mainly managers and supervisors) have worked in different stores and they have not lost years of work service when they moved.0
