    If you've worked a few already it implies you do have transport that you can use if necessary and therefore I think they are right to ask the others to work it- not let one person work every week!

    I have probably worked around three Sundays in the whole year but this was when the help was really needed. I had to arrange lifts from family. They are not happy to provide transport on a regular basis so this is the main issue.

    Sounds like they're being very pushy about this. If you can't get there, you can't get there!! Let them know in writing that there isn't a bus from your village that runs on a Sunday (maybe provide details from the bus company website, or photocopy a timetable that confirms this) If they want you to work on Sunday they will have to provide a taxi.
