Choosing current job for new one

Ive been at my current job for 5 years, been offered a job paying a couple thousand more. Current work wont offer anything more. However i am comfortable where i am and thinking i want to stay. Will i look weak to my current employer which might make me get unfairly treated when it comes to payrises and bonus payments? Thanks.

If comfortable there have you been head hunted or you applied for a new job?

Someone recommended me for the role. Went to the interview not expected anything, got offered the job, more interested in the money. Current work wont offer me anything more. Worried if i pass this offer down that current work might take me for granted as someone who wont ever leave. If that makes sense.

If you have told work you have an offer but you do not take it they may think a number of things. Maybe you were just trying to see if you could get a pay rise for example.

You told your work you have an offer I take it?
  • A lot has to be said for comfort zones.

I would suggest you just leave for the higher wage. Your current employer should value you enough to see that you are worth that much and in business, nobody plays fair.

If you stay it will seem like a ploy to get more money out of them. You never know, call there bluff and they may offer you an increase to stay.

I would resign on the basis that you 'want to move your career forward' and that you would be silly for turning down a payrise, although you would really like to continue working from them if they could meet your new wage.

Good luck and congrats on being in such a fortunate position :Txxxxx
