    Hi,

I'm currently finalizing my Statement of Affairs and am wondering how/if I can include my partner's debt repayments.

My partner has a monthly income of £995 which consists of :-
    £258 carers allowance
    £415 housing benefit
    £99 council tax benefit
    £142 child tax credit
    £81 child benefit

She has monthly debt repayments of £124 :-
    £50 credit card
    £52 loan
    £22 overdraft

Can I subtract these repayments from her income and then give the result as the amount she contributes to the household expenses, or alternatively can I include the repayments in the 'other essential payments' section?

    Thanks

    Hi there,

Section 6.7 of the bankrutpcy application asks for contributions towards household bills from other people in the household. So the figure you put in here can be the part of your partner's income that is used for household bills. Therefore there's no need to mention her debts on the expenses side (because the only income listed relates to what's put in towards household costs).

    All the best.

    Hello Stepchange People

I tried to call tonight at around 7.30 (I really struggle to make calls at work). The message was that the offices were closed. Have you changed you 8 to 8 hours.

Secondly on the mobile site you say that mobile calls are free to the 0800 number. I wanted to let you know that 02 charge for these calls - indeed they make you ring without the leading zero. Is there any way you can provide a normal number for mobiles to call so the cost would come out of minutes.

    Thanks

    Hi there,

Thanks for getting in touch. Our main helpline number, 0800 138 1111, is open 8 til 8 Monday to Friday and 8 til 4 on Saturdays. It should also be free from any mobile.

I'm wondering if you might have been ringing one of our different departments. We've got quite a few different teams and different contact numbers, so it might be one of the other ones. As we're on the bankruptcy board could it have been the bankruptcy support team?

If it was then that team is available 8 til 6 Monday to Friday and the freephone number isn't always free from mobiles. When I asked why this was I was told that it's because we're only able to have one number that's free from mobiles, which seems strange but it's what I was told.

I hope this helps. If I've got the wrong end of the stick and you were being charged to call the 0800 138 1111 number then please let me know and I'll look into it straight away.

    Cheers

    James

  • hi
i'm hoping for some help for the past 4 months I have been paying my monthly tax amount to a company on behalf of the official recievers which has been fine whilst i have been on full pay, however i am due to start recieving statutory maternity pay from february onwards and I know i still have to pay the tax till april but i don't know how much i have spoken to the recievers and they say that i need to speak to the 3rd party company and they will work out the amount but the 3rd party company say that they do not do this they will take what the reciever tells them to take, where do i go from here?? i need to know how much to pay as i always pay the amount straight from my wages on payday before i even touch my wage myself?

    Hi,

    Welcome to the forum.

If the creditor has sent you a Stat Demand they should then petition for your bankruptcy. You would not have to pay for this. But you must respond to the Stat Demand. Here’s an explanation of what to do next.

You can contact us if you need advice about dealing with the Stat Demand.

    Thanks,
    Jess
