Don't Know Whether To Take Job

Hi there.. I am in need of a bit of advice. I've worked myself into quite a state! All over a possible job.
Atm, I am at Uni on a course that I kind of enjoy, but the course tutors are making my life difficult because I have a slight disability. At the interview, it wasn't an issue, so I don't see why it has become one all of a sudden! The student services are trying to help me, but it's not really worth it since my tutors are just going against what needs to be done. (Eg - I have been attending Physio once a week & missing a class because of it. My tutor told me that it was ok & she would update me with work missed, but hasn't & refuses to agree on a mutually convenient time to do so. Also she won't approve my work experience placements, because *she* doesn't think I can do them.. She won't even allow me to try. Without her approval, my hours don't count - so I will fail the course).
I have been offered a job this afternoon. It's nothing glamorous, just data entry. I've done it before so it's nothing new. The hours are a bit weird though.. 5-11pm. My OH is not fond of the idea.. But then I'm getting conflicting messages from him. One minute he's judging me for wanting to leave Uni, the next he's on board with it - as long as I have a job.. But no job is good enough!!
At the moment, I have it in my mind that I will probably leave this course before it actually ends. I used to run my own business but had to stop because of a car accident. I want nothing more than to save up & buy a new bike so I can go back to that! Basically, I just want my old life back.
I am frustrated & upset. I just don't know what to do & I am rather tired of fighting for my right to an education
Does this job sound ridiculous? I mean, I can get there (two buses & a 10min walk), at 11pm my OH can pick me up. The pay is NMW (or there abouts) but it's more than I'm on atm with Student Finance! And with Xmas coming up, expensive dog treatments & a car to finance (my OH's car), I'm at a loss. My Student Finance just barely covers the treatment & car stuff. Nevermind my travel to & from Uni AND work experience, plus food etc. Thankfully my bills are covered, but that's about it!
What should I do?

How far along are you in your course OP? You say you enjoy it, so it sounds like this tutor is the only one that's holding you back. Can you not visit Student Services again and ask for their help, mediation between you and your tutor, if poss?
If so, I'd stick out your course. It doesn't sound worth chucking away the possibility of a degree for a minimum wage job, thats difficult to get to, has anti social hours and with I'm guessing little prospects.
Does your OH work 9-5? If so when would you see him, apart from weekends? Would you be happy getting public transport, and having to walk, at after 11pm?
No offence, but that job sounds a nightmare. You wouldn't even be getting good money!
The majority of people have to cut their cloth and make cut backs if they study f/t, but I expect you knew that before you signed up.
Would you be happy to carry on if your tutor was more accomodating? If so, give getting things sorted out, another bash!
PS does your uni not have a "job shop"? Check with them for pt jobs that you can fit in around your course.0 -

I'm only in my first term at the moment. Student services have offered help with communication between myself & my tutor, but she won't do it. I spoke to a lovely woman last week, who helped me fill out a DSA form. She suggested if my tutor couldn't find time to speak to me about missing classes, then perhaps they could meet up, my tutor could explain the work to the student services woman, who would then pass it on to me. That way everyone wins. But my tutor just will not cooperate! Now she's asking me to go in, on my day off (which is relevant because another student is giving me lifts in), my Husband is at work, so he can't take me so I will have to spend £10 on the buses (Which, quite frankly, I don't have to spend on random buses). My tutor is being really smart about it all though.. She's making it look as though she's being helpful, when actually she's not. So when I complain, I look like the one causing the hassle! It's so frustrating!
I see what you're saying about the job. My OH is a manager in a store, so his hours change regularly, but mostly he works from around 7am-6pm
So I just wouldn't see him. Other than the odd day off he has, and Sundays
I don't think my Uni has a job shop, it's technically a College, but the course I'm doing (A HND) is one of their Uni courses. I was sent an advert for a receptionist job by the college, which I thought was perfect.. But then they replying saying it was only advertised for current employees?? Seemed a bit silly to me.
I did know I'd have to scrimp while at Uni.. If anything, the Student Finance money was an increase on what I had over the summer! I didn't manage to find any jobs! As soon as I get my next instalment, money will be ok again. I just need my OH to realise that we can't afford much this Xmas, but he's really putting pressure on! I suggested baking presents this year because it would be a tenner to cover everyone! But apparently that's not personal enough.. He'd rather spend a tenner each. And on a student budget, I can't swing that
Especially if I'm paying for *HIS* MOT etc! Hmph. 0 -

This isn't really acceptable OP, keep at it and go back to student services again (and again if required!)0 -

That thread seems linked to her course content, not a potential job. And it was posted weeks ago......0 -

Sorry Taiko, but I didn't think they were really all that linked. I took what was written in that thread & I asked for more support from my college/Uni.
This thread was more about weighing up the pros and cons of a particular job that I had been offered. Unfortunately, most of the problems I was having on the course then are still happening now.. So that was a con for the course.
To be fair, some of those comments weren't very useful at all.. People took it upon themselves to assume I was on a dangerous course, handling large animals. Which was not the case. It's a HND course, handling mostly small animals, occasionally dogs, sheep and horses. Nothing bigger & the horses aren't very often, if at all? I didn't really understand how I was going to die because of my ankles if I have difficulties standing/walking for long periods of time.
It seems as though my college/Uni want to help (Or some people do..) but the tutor is standing in the way of any progress. Which is very frustrating to me.
Lottie - Thank you for your replies, I do appreciate your advice. I will send an email to student services explaining my worries. I worry that the email will get forwarded onto my tutor (as it did last time & she got really defensive about what was said).
The woman with the job offer hasn't called back yet, so I'm assuming the decision has been made for me! It's just so tempting & I've spent so long with my job-hunting hat on, that when someone offers a job, I immediately want to jump at it! You were right though, it wasn't ideal & there were no prospects.0 -

There are a fair few overlapping themes in there though, which are going to be related to employment.0
