I cant get my head around this at all, no matter how much I look on line its like I am having a mental block!!
I have worked for this company for 7 years. In my contract (which has not been updated in that time, any alterations, increases etc. have been by letter) it states:
"the employee is entilited to 24 days holiday per year on full salary, in addition to the normal statutory holidays"
I always thought this meant 24 days plus bank holidays but never gave it much thought about the wording to be honest and it dosent really make sense to me, as aren't the 24 days your statutory holidays??
Now that holidays have increased to 28 days does this mean 28 plus bank holidays? Which seems like a lot!
Is this what other employers do?
If it helps its an office job 5 days a week.

You have to be given 28 days to INCLUDE bank holidays so from what you have said you get 24 days PLUS bank holidays, yes?
It has now gone up to 28 days plus bank holidays?
How many days other than holidays did you take in the last holiday year?
28 days plus 8 b/h is not a lot really as I know some people on 30 days plus b/h
I have only even had 20 plus b/h and even after years in the same jobs0 -
It isnt 28 days plus bank holidays, it is 28 days holiday which can, but doesnt have to, include bank holidays (so 20 days of your choice)

Not 100% certain on this but I think employers can say when employees take holiday, for example in a factory that has a shut down period.0
