Housing benefit and mortgage

I have just been made redundant and am going through the nightmare of benefits. This will be short term as I am getting married soon and the plan was always to rent my house out. Once this has been achieved it wont be so vital for me to jump into another job. The OH has no mortgage on his property and mine isnt massive. The question I have is if I claim housing benefit (if eligible) will they tell the mortgage company? I really dont want to give the mortgage company any reason to refuse consent to let and the mortgage can be covered for the couple of months we are talking about if necessary. We dont currently live together.

You don't claim HB to pay for a mortgage, you claim SMI (support for mortgage interest. This covers the interest on the mortgage only, kicks in after 13 weeks and is available if you're on means tested benefits.

Ah thanks. So the problem will naturally resolve itself then as within 3 months we will be married and hopefully have this place rented out.
I will just get the consent to let and go from there I think.0
