the top companies that help people get their debt cleared with no charge are as follows: Christians Against Poverty (CAP), Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) and Payplan.
they don't charge the debtors. so how do they make their money? I am guessing they charge the creditors. but they never announce it?.
I tried searching within their sites but nothing mentioned about how they generate their revenues.

note: CCCS is now named "StepChange Debt Charity"

  • In the case of CCCS they are a registered charity so they are funded from donations.

Mainly the donations come from the credit industry itself.

Christians against Poverty receive at least some of their money from congregations - I know my church donates to them.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.

    How we're funded
Unlike fee-charging debt management companies, our service is funded by creditors, not paid for by clients. This is made possible by the charitable contributions that creditors make to us. As a result, our advice to those in need is genuinely free. It’s based on what’s best for them, not what’s profitable for us.

We’re a charity, so unlike many other debt advisors and debt management companies we're not driven by profits or shareholders. Instead, our debt advice is always free and our priority is always you.

Also if they take your payment on the 1st of the month, they pay out to creditors around 24th of the month so they make a little interest during that time, remember they are dealing with millions not a few hundred pound so guess it must go someway to helping the charity :)
