OR interview tomorrow (argh) couple of questions

Hello

So I am sorting everything out and hopefully have all the information I need ready for my OR interview tomorrow including a mahoosive cup of tea! But I have a couple of questions...

My partner and I split the household bills 50:50 but he earns a lot more than I do. Will the OR ask what his salary is and try and get him to play more than 50%?! I am hoping not as this hardly seems fair especially as he has helped me out so much financially over the past few years.

Thanks,
NC

  • hi,
good luck with the interview, as well as the cup of tea my top tips are have a wee before hand and if you are using a cordless phone make sure the battery will last an hour, caused me a couple of problems during the call :)

The OR's tend to be very nice people and very fair, think only one person has commented on one being a bit grumpy, from my experience my partners earnings never came into it, its 50/50 down the line, any questions you don't know the answers to just say you don't know, if it is more information they need you can always give it later, my OR asked questions about my SOA as some figures were higher than average, but he accepted the reasoning on them, didn't allow one, but reminded me that I did not have expenses in for some things, holiday and emergencies etc.

Today is the next step for you...:):)

Which expenses would you go 50:50 on? If you have childcare expenses and they children are not your partners, do you leave that out? What about your car insurance for instance? Sorry to hijack your thread NewChapter, let us know how you get on and good luck :-)

Lala, it might be better if you start your own thread. Bit hesitant to answer and hihack this one.

  • Thanks for your messages everyone. Hmm it went ok. The OR was really nice and it all went ok. There were a few tricky bits but got through it ok. It has been a pretty tough day though going back through everything.

its unlikely they would actually change their mind based on the same information lexy, but they can reserve judgement (ie not make up their mind straight away) for a while so they can have a deeper look at it or time to think, some decisions are straight forward, some are not. also your circumstances could change in which case they would reassess

  • Thank you!

As Debtinfo says, nothing is set in stone so they could at any point check my outgoings again, do another working out etc. Hopefully that'll be it but as I'm self employed, I am guessing they may be in touch in a few months again to check or wait till the tax return. I have to let them know know if anything changes.

Good luck for your hearing! You'll be fine :)
