Home Made Christmas Presents For Grandparents

Morning all!

I'm hoping you can help me come up with an idea for Christmas for my grandparents. I really don't have very much money in the way of a budget but I won't let that stop me! I have sorted everyone else out now I just need to do the grandparents. I live in Spain and I am visiting in a week so it needs to be something that will keep until Christmas. I think that means homemade biscuits are out of the question.

I can sew and I'm very crafty they're just quite difficult to buy for. My sister is making them a calendar which was my first idea. I ca have things delivered to my grandparents house in my name but I just can't find anything suitable for very little money.
Please help!

  • What kind of things do they enjoy doing? Would you like to get them a present each or a joint present? Are they still the active type or ?

How long are you over for? Could you bring a basic sewing kit with you and make something while you're here because visiting them may spark some ideas.

Does your grandmother cook? If so, could you make some of those layered up recipes in a jar so it looks pretty and she just adds an egg or whatever. You could maybe get ingredients and assemble over here because I don't know how well they'd travel.

You could also look on the Armed Forces thread as I am sure some of the wives make cakes and post them abroad so you could perhaps do that.
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.

Thank you so much for your ideas. I have been busy making cards, jars of sweets and toffee vodka today so haven't had a chance until now to check the post.

Thank you for the family tree cushion idea that is definitely a contender. I made them each a gingerbread man christmas tree decoration today. They are separated with different partners so I'd love to make/buy each couple something.

Both are still active, they love gardening although at 85 they are struggling a bit. I love the photo idea I think I may have a go at that as I ordered lots of photos from snapfish when they had the free prints offer.

Thank you for your ideas everyone I really appreciate them, I may have to give the cake mix in a jar a go as well:T:T oh how I love christmas!
