O/S Daily Saturday 3 November 2012

O/S Daily Thead 3rd Nov Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 3rd Nov. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Cloudy and overcast but not raining, feels chilly though. DH up and off to work stupid early. For some daft reason I woke up when DH did and so got up and made us both a cuppa - intended going back to bed but couldn't sleep, so got up after he left and have been enjoying a quiet surf on her with another cuppa whilst boys are still in bed.

Dinner last night was HM chinese, was really delicious, used a A**i jar of Black Bean sauce to make chicken in black bean sauce, used lots of veg to make veg fried rice (added some prawns that needed using up) and also made mushrooms and noodles - don't know what I did but it was one of the best "made up" meals we've had in a long time, saved us so much money as a takeaway for us is over £20 now. Will organise tonight's dinner later, have plenty in so will find something!

Was reasonably productive yesterday, went to the bank and did food shopping, came to more than I would have liked but had a £5 off coupon and another so got £5.67 off my shopping, also took back a packet of wraps I bought last week (use by date 6/11/12) - wanted to make wraps for lunches for a change whilst kids on hols, but went to open them on 01/11/12 and they had lots of mould on them - so took them back and got a double the price refund! Visited the butcher after not finding a nice joint for roasting on Sunday and bought a piece of topside (haven't had roast beef for ages as it's so expensive, so hope it's going to be ok). Changed our bed and tried to dry bedlinen on the line although it was blustery the washing wasn't dry enough to put away/use - so just gave it a 20 min blast in TD. Last night after everyone else had drifted off to bed, I decided to put the oven cleaner in the oven to leave overnight - so once I've finished on here, had a shower and brekkie will clean that off - and hey presto! will have a lovely clean oven. (It was absolutely disgusting - can't believe it gets in such a state so quick - but I do cook lots!) Decided also yesterday afternoon to clean up in the porch it's a dumping ground and although it looks better still needs work - may do some more later.

Have been reading with interest the posts regarding frugal living, so many good ideas, will be trying to adopt a few of these, always try to get the best value/price for everything but there is always room for improvement!

Have a great day everyone, stay safe and well x
