I have just come across the 'Slow Cooker' don't know where I have been the last xx of years
Anyway I'm going to buy one tomorrow and have seen one in Argos for £20 but its 6.5litres is that to big for me?
There is myself, husband and 2 kids who are 6 & 5
On the hunt for some decent recipes now on the net, every thing looks so yummy.

You can always freeze anything extra. I have a 6.5l one and regularly cook 6-8 portions at a time, it's great when I can't be bothered to cook and is much cheaper than takeaway :-) we are 2 adults and 2 (very very shortly to be 3) children.
And you can get a whole decent sized chicken in a 6.5l one.0 -
I have 2 slow cookers - the first one I got was 6.5L for me and OH and I used it a lot.
Got a smaller one only because it could be used with timer whereas bigger one couldn't (has to be programmed) but I still use the bigger one when catering for more than just us.
I would say go for the bigger version - you can always cook more than you need and freeze it.0 -
without a doubt I would go for the bigger one if you have a family I have two a small one which my DD gave me when her family increased in size and an oval one I think its about 3.5 litres which I bought for the shape more than anything as a chicken goes beautifully in there. With my Remoska and slow cooker unless I am having a big bake up I rarely use my big oven, so saves a fortune in fuel costs0

Miss w, the kids will grow,as will their appetites. Get a bit one! XMe, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
I have a big one (ooowwww) but its round and now wish I had a oval one for the chickens or legs of lamb so definiately get big and choose shape that you will use - a casserole can be cooked in an oval but a chicken cant be cooked in a round lol0

i have a big 6.5l one ( the only one on Amazon prime when mine broke late last year) and I love it! There are 5 of us (all adults) and anything left over gets frozen!
And esmf73 is correct - your kids will grow - as will their appetites....:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -
Another vote for 6.5l here. We have one and use it loads. I fill it and freeze at least 4 (double) portions after we have had a meal from it. There's just hubby & I but as we both work full time, it's a real timesaver having plenty in the freezer to choose from after a hard day at work. After 4 years of heartache, 3 rounds of IVF and 1 loss :A - we are finally expecting our miracle Ki11en - May 2014 :j
And a VERY surprise miracle in March 2017!0
