  • Hi all,

Just checking in to say I paid another £60 off the CC (Barclaycard) which takes my paid off amount to £657.78 out of the original amount of £18,282.25 =3.6%

In other news I have been offered a class to teach at 7amon Monday morning which I DO NOT WANT TO DO ... However, it is for £18 for the 45m (after tax it would work out as £13.50ish) so my question is... do I tire myself and just get up and do it before my working day starts as something is better than nothing,or do I not do it? It works out about £600 for the year.

    Morning all!

Just checking in to say that I read through my diary from beginning to end this morning and it was a well needed kick up the bum I deserved. In 5 years, I have achieved NOTHING. Yes I have paid debt off, but with courses and becoming self employed I have increased the debt once more so I am back to square one.

The top 10 main themes that keep coming through that I need to learn from are:
    1. I keep eating lunch out. I MUST start meal prepping.Save money and eat well.
    2. Pay day, I need to buy a monthly travel card plus the cat food for the month and store cupboard staples so that if anything goes wrong in the month (i.e. payment taken that I was not expecting) I can still feed the cats and myself plus get to work.
    3. I get tired a lot. Earlier bedtime for me? Realise that in the week this means I would have no life as I do not get home until late, but at least I wont be tired and can get through the working week. Bedtime now set at 10pm (may change to be 9-9.30)
    4. I drink too much alcohol. Not good for my health, finances or the tiredness. No alcohol in the week now as the first starting point. 1 750ml bottle allowed on Saturday night/Sunday lunch. Plan is to eventually cut that down to 1x 175ml mini bottle
    5. I need to pay all the bills as soon as I get paid and live off the balance
    6. Reduce my social life. I have no time for eating out etc. Far better to buy a £5 bottle of wine and take it round to a friends to catch up.
    7. Start using this diary more so I can keep on track
8.Debt payment order (all approx amounts)- Hall debt (£0.4k), Education course (£0.4k), Barclaycard (£1.5k), Capital One (£3.2k), Tesco (£3.2k), Welcome (£4k),Car (£5k)
    9. Engage a little more on the other threads. I need a support system so I should use it!
    10. Track with YNAB daily. Aim for 20 NSD's per month.

I am excited to start kicking this into play.I need to accept all the work that I can get going forwards now.

DFD is calculated at end August 2019 (but with interest occurring every month from now on, it may mean the true DFD is December 2019). This is based on me paying £1k per month off debt

At least this will make me debt free before my 40th the following year!!

  • So today I was paid from one of the places I teach (£160) so I paid £150 off of the Tesco card. Feeling so happy I am doing this!!!

£7.51 spend for me today which was for fruit and veg (plus a packet of crisps) so I can cook some lentils and baked potato for tomorrow.

  • Morning all,

Main pay day for me so have paid my mortgage arrears of £1.1k which is my main priority.
Off now to cancel any DD's so I make the payments manually as they keep bouncing which means that I end up with £95 of charges each month. I have 2 bank accounts this happens with, I am determined this is the last month that I pay these charges.

Wishing the weather to warm up so I can get off at zone 2 (I live zone 6) and walk into zone 1. Also by doing this off peak mon-fri it will mean that my travel goes down by £180 per month (I.e. the bank charges) and if I keep doing this until October/November before it gets cold again then I have already found a way to save £1.6k which is one of my credit cards.

Eugh this is going to be one long hard slog but having my light bulb moment once again I am determined this time will be the last that I am in debt!
Whilst I am here, mortgage interest is so expensive!!! It's my first year of having one, so I need to pay unsecured debt off quickly so I can make overpayments to the mortgage. I paid £5.4k and £3.1 was interest alone!!!

  • I HATE BEING BROKE!!

Need to get out of debt ASAP!!

I applied for some bar work, however I would Prefer to do more teaching a s its my industry plus I get paid more than double that of bar work. Currently banked long term cover (as long as I want it) on a sunday 8.15-10am. Hate getting up but at least i am done by 10am and its only round the corner from home!

  • This week has been super tough!!!

I ran over a pot hole which caused my tyre to go, which meant I couldnt get to the hall to teach so lost around £50-£60 in earnings and then had to wait 3 hours for AA to come and pick me up. I had to have a long hard cry in the cold car whilst waiting for them. I cried because I hate being in this position of being broke and not being able to afford things. Constantly worried that I wont have enough money to pay my bills. Working so hard all month to basically pay the banks so much interest.

I have got better at taking food into work and not buying alcohol in the week though. This week I spent £1.80 on a mini bottle when I got home after my car breaking down. I had a pre arranged night planned on Friday so that was £30 I had budgeted for.

Will keep pushing to pay this debt off once and for all
