Work programme - switch provider?

Hey all, wondered if anyone could help. Ive recently been put on the work programme, but for some reason (maybe lack of space locally) ive been sent to a provider which is in a completely different town to where i sign on. It wouldnt be a problem except the jobs they want to put me forward for are miles from where i live.. (most of them are shift work so would mean id be 30 or so miles away from home at 2 or 3am, with no public transport running..) Does anyone know if i can request to be sent to a training provider more local? Many thanks.

As far as I know from a friend you have one provider for your area and I know when I get put on it I will have to go 7 miles to another borough to my provider taking an hour to get there and and hour to get back on the bus.

You just tell them you can not get to the job if you have no means of getting there. How are you meant to accept any job if that's the case.
  • There's at least two providers in the town where i sign on that i know to, so why ive been sent miles away god only knows lol. Took me about an hour aswell.. think i'll go to the jobcentre monday and try to get it changed. Many thanks

they just may be the ones who have the contract. I think you can get transfered between offices but not providers

Unfortunately you won't be able to change, as the system generates which provider you attend so that the companies that hold the contract in your area have an equal share of customers

But the thing is the OP is saying they are not in their area.

I sign in one town and I know my provider is going to be one hour away door to door on London Bus - how stupid is that, that there are no providers or office of this said one where I live.
