Home based work?

Hello,

What with my fluctuating anxiety/depression/agoraphobia, plus increasing home responsibilities (dad's illness and wanting to spend more time with children) I am seriously considering a home-based job. However, because of the agoraphobia-thing, I can't do party-plan or mystery shopping type jobs:eek: , and I really have very few contacts friends or family for MLM "opportunities" (have tried both Herbalife and Forever Living.

I am well educated and articulate, so anything with words/proof-reading etc would be great; however, I live in rural North Wales, so not sure what can be done in the absence of a decent sized city!

I'd welcome any suggestions, and if anyone out there has any work for me, please PM me for more info.

Thanks
S.x

Have you thought of offering your proofreading services on eBay?
I am sure students etc are always looking for proofreading services.

I am also considering an eBay business as I too suffer from anxiety and the thought of any type of work outside the home is terrifying. I know how difficult it can be.

If anyone could help with this as my wife suffers from depression and has been recently turned down for a job she really wanted, just to get her back into work.

With the kids at school it would give her something to do, to have a little more spending money, and hopefully bring her out of the depression.
  • I have and still do suffer from anxiety too, and I know this may sound a bit daunting but working from home will only feed your agoraphobia, you need to throw yourself out there, get yourself a small shop job or something getting to know the locals to start off with, honestly it will do you the world of good, it did me!

    good luck xx
:T Hail Kipper, and hail fluffynit for their endless hard work on the competitions board!:T

Thanks. My doc said the same thing to me this morning. I have been having nightmares about working, but I don't think staying home is doing me any good.

Yes, part of me is realising that I have to face my fears, albeit slowly. I'm wondering now whether to instead find a job (sorry, don't mean to offend anyone by this :o ) not as intellectually demanding as my previous jobs, e.g. bar work or cleaning, and as suggested to get out there again, even just part time.

Good luck to those of you in a similar state.

Good luck! I was in a similar position a couple of years ago, and dreaded the thought of having to go out for a job. But I'm very glad now that I did, as it's really had a massive impact on the whole of my life!

It will be very hard at first, but do go for it! Good luck.

Are you claiming any disability benefits? If so, there should be an advisor at the JobCentre who can direct you towards free training/ work experience, fully supported and sympathetic to your situation, that will help you to deal with your anxieties and eventually return to paid employment.
