JSA and claim new self-employed??

Hi everyone,

I have a doubt about JSA benefit and become self employed. In my case a company was willing to hire me, so they asked me an UTR number, but at that time I hadn't. Then I applied for UTR number and I called back but they said me there was no more vacancy, then I'm not working at the moment.
I was taking JSA and I still taking that and now my UTR is arrived and they write me to fill an return taxs.
I didn't speak about that with the jobcentre because i did't find important, but i still without work.
My question is, should I sign off benefit? Or better speak with HMRC and tell them I 'm not working?
thanks in advance to anyone can help me.

  • Please, someone can asnwer and tell me? I can sleep in the night?! Thank you
  • No, no one can help you because you haven't given enough details, and your post is not clear enough. Have I got the story right?

You 'had a doubt about JSA' and became self employed, but you did not have a UTR (quite understandable, if it was a while before you needed to file accounts).

A company then offered you a job. Or offered to give you a self-employed contract (we have to guess which, maybe?) But they were unwilling to proceed because you didn't have a UTR.

You got a UTR, but the job is no longer available.

At no point do you make it clear whether you have EVER worked self-employed, how much you have been making (not being nosy, just need to know whether you make 'enough' or not). But you want us to decide whether you should cease self-employment, or cease claiming JSA. Have I got the story right? If I have, how are we supposed to know which you should do without ANY details of your self-employment?
Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).
