Private v. NHS Dentist

    In your case with a four unit bridge the laboratory fee alone for the bridge is likely to be much more than the dentist would have received on the NHS. It also has to be said that as the nhs is only there to secure dental health in the simplest way possible in many cases a denture would be seen as an appropriate treatment.

    As a guideline a cheap nhs dental surgery costs about £150 an hour to run so hopefully you can appreciate where the increased costs for your bridge come from.

    Yes, I fully understand what you are saying. I am quite happy to pay more for the best outcome for me where the result is going to be seen by everyone who looks at my face. I can see that that would be classed as cosmetic surgery. Fillings at the back can be done simply on the NHS, as they can't be seen, unless I yawn, ha ha.
