Best storage for a small chest freezer?

Options
I like the idea of batch cooking but have never been able to figure out which are the best containers (that are mse).

Someone has suggested I use foil containers for pasta bakes and other dishes that will go into the oven to cook.

The other recommended container is the poundland plastic takeaway style ones that are £1.00 for 8 containers for curries, single portions etc.

Any suggestions? What do others use?

I've tried using ziploc bags and it doesn't matter how careful I am I still manage to damage them.

We eat spicy curries a lot ;) and have found that once I use an plastic container we cannot use it again or it stains badly. Maybe I'm not using the items properly?

I'm also hoping to have my freezer stocked up for when baby number 2 arrives-but that won't be until summer :A

Thanks guys for the tips.

i use a mixture of both, mainly plastic ones which i then tip into my slowcooker to warm (cheaper than putting the oven one) or foil ones for things i pop in the oven (like sausage casarole or lasagne)

I use plastic containers but found they were much cheaper online. The bolognese, curries, etc. do stain them slightly, most can be removed by soaking and a washing up sponge though, but in reality, does it really matter about a bit of staining if you're going to stick another curry in them?
If want to oven-cook something I can pop it right out of the plastic container into an oven-proof dish.

I re use containers which had food in them when I bought them. No point in buying new containers when you can get them for free. Very MSE :D I re heat my food in a microwave so I save the dishes when I buy the odd reduced yellow sticker ready meal. I portion out soups and stews into old potato salad and coleslaw plastic pots, them transfer them to a microwavable dish.

I use plastic boxes like these, but I wouldn't buy these particular ones. I have and they are not worth £1 so therefore false economy.

If you pay a little bit more and I don't mean loads more money, Wilkinsons or the like rather than Lakeland ;) then it is still value for money as they will last for years and you simply wash and re-use over and over again.

Its not necessary to buy different types of boxes for different foods. You just put into an oven proof dish to re-heat. HTH

Edited to say, I've seen that people use take away containers and I imagine these are fine. Its just that I've never ordered a take away in my life so I never have these.
