Pre Employment checks

I have been offered a brilliant position with RR Donelley, however they are currently checking my credit and references via Vero Screening-
I have had periods of moderate credit debt, late repayments, a default to collection agency
Just wondering has anyone not been approved a position
the agency keeps saying 'oh its a formality' but I'm sure to most people it is... But I've handed in my notice at my current position... I have a partner and child to support - whats the real world chance of not getting the job? Should I backpedal at work?

Difficult to comment entirely accurately without knowing your exact current situation (and that's just a statement, not asking you to disclose anything on here) but unless your current financial situation is absolutely terrible, I doubt this will be an issue. When an employer where you might have access to customer's financial details does a credit check on a potential employee, they're generally checking that you're not in such financial dire straits that you could be tempted to commit fraud or vulnerable to corruption. They'd be looking for bankruptcy and CCJs and that type of thing. They don't need you to have a brilliant credit rating.0

Making the normal 'jump' from one job to another can be scary enough, I was unlucky enough once to accept an offer, work my 30 days notice and in that time the company I was going to got taken over, all new roles frozen so they didn't honour my contract. - When I received this unexpected screening paperwork (which went in to the details of needing my utilities supply numbers ) I did brick it a bit- I've got a 4 month old daughter and so the last 4 months have been a financial struggle, hence looking for a new job. I have interviwed for a couple of other roles too, but this is the one I want! - Your words have made me a bit more comfortable. Thank You!0
