Hi I wanna buy a good Wireless 802.11g router, there seems to be loads of them around can anyone advice of good well priced one. I need the router and a laptop pcmcia card as well.

I just bought a router from ebuyer and a network adapter for my laptop which connects through my usb port.

I can definately recomend the one I have - Nergear DG854G. I have had it about 7 months and had no problems at all. Setting it up was a doddle, even for the WEP encrypted security.
I got mine from Amazon (see link above), but you may be able to get a better deal else where.
I also have a Netgear WG511 PCI Wireless card for my laptop that is good.Organisation and planning are for those who can't handle stress and caffine :rolleyes:

Opt for a well known name, your get a better reception, meaning faster downloads.
Also be aware that a 55mb connection will usually only transfer data at about 25mb, due to error checking.A bargain is only a bargain if you would have brought it anyway!0 -

Has any one used these routers with the security functions switched on, I have heard that when the security functions are switched on there a big impact on performance. Any one had any experience of this?0

I suspect you are referring to the NAT firewall.
This has no visible effect on performance but you will need to set it up correctly for applications to access the www.0 -
