State Pension Difficulties

I was 65 a couple of months ago and am still awaiting my State Pension or even an estimate of what I should expect, despite several long phone calls.

I got someone sensible today and apparently, it’s because the DWP can’t access my records at HMRC, as the computer says no! They’ve sent my file to HMRC to deal with it manually.

It doesn't matter too much to me as I'm comfortably off, but I wonder how many others from the baby-boom years after the war, are struggling to get what they are entitled to and desperately need.

  • I think its disgusting myself. All this should have been sorted out a couple of months before retirement age.I dont know how they get these jobs in HMRC,half of em dont know what they are doing as they are always cocking it up.
Did they ask you how you were going to manage in the meantime?(I bet not).
Hope you get sorted soon. Good Luck.

Luckily I had no problems , I got a requested a forecast several years before I was due my pension then an updated one nearer the time , I also got a letter 3mths or so before the first payment to ask me how I wanted it paid and to which acc then its all been plain sailing.
Maybe if you'd of requested a forecast you would of been alerted to the fact there were going to be problems giving DWP time to sort it out before it was due. My only dealings with DWP and HMRC have been swiftly dealt with and the call centre staff very helpful.
