Petrox Corporation is exploring for petrol on a remote island. While leaving Surubaya they are joined by stowaway Jack Prescott (Jeff Bridges), a primate scientist, and then pick up beautiful castaway Dawn (Jessica Lange, and the two soon become close. On the island the group find that the inhabitants worship a giant gorilla called Kong. Smelling profit, the crew kidnap Kong and take him back to New York in order to exhibit him to audiences hungry to see the monster in the flesh, but Kong’s natural instincts take over and New York becomes the setting for a major Kongfrontation!
