The Tesco Online 'Guide' Price

I know this has been talked about a LOT but my first time and just placed an order so wanted to make sure its fine to let it go ahead.
While most offers were applied and saved me a small amount, the big offers on 2 spirits and meats I ordered wasnt applied. Both offers runs until Nov 11th and the delivery arrives tomorrow so I should get the discount (which, BTW, is £17)
I spoke to Customer Services who said once you have it delivered, the final price will be on the bill and you can see the discount applied. My only gripe is, if they know the actual delivery date, why can it not be applied at checkout itself? So my guide price for which I entered card details says the bill is £80 but its actually only £63 - thats not good online experience!
Is this standard with Tesco online shopping and can I believe them to get it right? If not, its best I cancel the order at once!

with online shopping you only get a guide price as you are charged the instore price on day of picking. if you have requested no substitutions and something isnt in stock then your total will be lower, or if you have requested veg or meat by weight it could cost a little more or less depending on whats available on the day. they cant give you an exact total until its been picked.
if the deal hasnt shown up on the delivery receipt contact customer services who will arrange the refund.0 -
Delivery came on time and they seemed to have got it right with a proper amount for the final bill with all offers available last night given to me.
I was under the impression that shopping online would save me some extra dosh but doesnt seem to with Tesco. The final price is based on what's billed at the till in the actual Tesco store that day. I thought online shopping had better offers than in store - is this not the case or is it just Tesco's?

Same with all supermarkets the products are the same and the prices are the same as instore, once in a while you will get 1 or 2 exclusive online only offers (such as a free pack of rice krispies squares at the moment if you do a online tesco shop).0

The products you see on Tesco.com are availabe in store, I presume the site knows which store would deliver your order by your postcode (I also presume the site has some kind of database of postcodes and which stores deliver to what postal codes).0 -

No, when you sign in to the site you see exactly what is available in the store which will deliver your groceries.
Basically, all you are doing is leaving a shopping list. On the day your shopping is to be delivered someone takes your list and walks round the store picking your items.
people say you save money because you don't buy lots of stuff you don't need/didn't go into the store for.0 -
It would be pretty pointless for any supermarket, to offer things online, which they can't supply from the store they deliver to you from.
I have found that compared to my local Waitrose, Ocado has a much bigger range. They don't bill you until the shopping is actually delivered. I won't accept subs unless organic so I send them back.0 -
Tesco GHS can have ddifferent offers to those found in the store.
But the offers need to be treated in the same way - e.g. if it is BOGOF then oder two, that's what you do in the store - then you get charged for one (providing that promotion was still running at the time of picking). Some people do only order one and wonder why two didn't arrive!I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard0
