First time buyer mortgages

My partner and I are looking to buy a little house. I'm a first-time buyer, but he owned a house (was bought out about 7 years ago). I assume that means we would *not* qualify as first-time buyers, but can anyone confirm?
And are we missing out on a great mortgage deal, therefore?
We have a 28% deposit (I like to be precise) but I don't think we'll make it to 33%.
Many thanks

It will depend on the lender. Some would class as FTB if not owned a house in last x years, others would say not FTB if ever owned a place.
Not much advantage in it anyway. Some FTB exclusives are more expensive than other lender's standard deals.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
