Apprentice BT engineer or Gas Apprentice

Good morning

I currently work as a Team Leader in the Customer Service Industry and all my work experience is Customer Service although i need a change.

I am interested in the above jobs but dont know how to go about it. All i see is training courses or college.
I just want a £15,000 job as a trainee gas engineer or to fix cables and customers connections etc?

Can anyone please advise
Thanks

  • You could go onto National Apprenticeship Service website, set up an account and search for what is available near you or contact your local FE College and speak to them about what they have.

Hi OP I wish you all the best however, please be aware that as you have already prob noticed due to the bt website being down, the demand for apprenticeships is VERY high, thus, so is the competition and entry requirements.

If you have no relevant experience or qualifications, you may be be disappointed. Most employers look for youngsters who have just left school or college where they have been studying relevant subjects.

Also, the standard training "wage" is under £100 a week. For the salary that you require you should be looking for "adult appreticeships", and again, these aren't very popualr, but the demand is high, and again, emplyers seem to prefer those have that at least some kind of partially relevant experience.

I'm not saying that your idea is impossible, but you may struggle more than a school leaver who will cost less to pay / train. good luck!
