Attachments of earnings advice

Hi all,

Just need some advice :) i have had to work part time for the last 3 years as there isnt many jobs about where i live which is fine but it just leaves me without any major luxurys which again i get on fine without

I had a attachment of earnings order on my wages from a old CCJ which was £20 ish a month which out of £600 a month was bearable but it has no jumped to £65 a month for the last 2 months taking pretty much all of the free cash i had for no essentials and emergencys ( i was still baole to save £20-30 a month for a rainy day ) i spoke to my boss and they said its what the order now says

How do i get the court to re look at it? someone said i can but costs me £30 :/ the £65 a month out off £580-600 what i get paid is now so close to the line im dreading needed new clothes or hving to put extra in the heating

Any help or advice would be great

Many thanks

  • If you let it run @ £65 a month, the sooner you'll have it paid.

Would that not be better, then at the end of it you'll have an 'extra' £65 p/m.

I dont think you can get them to re look at it. It is taken off as a percentage of your salary.

Just save £5 a month less on your rainy day money. What do you define as a rainy day anyway.

Go all out to find another part/full time job.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Rainy day as in being sick ( no sick pay where i work ), clothes, extra bills over the winter etc its not a holiday fund trust me....

And i have been looking of course for every work but alot of the full time jobs are minimum wage and temp which obv wont help come january as i dont want to end up on JSA as at least i can explain at intervoiews i have worked part time as it was better than JSA ( did have a summer job in 2011 along with this job )

I think that strict % only applies to AOEs for things like council tax.

For a CCJ you can ask for the amount to be changed if you can't afford it.

What if I want to change the terms of the attachment of earnings order in the future?

Would certainly be worth contacting the court as I think you (a) should have had notice if the creditor had applied for the amount to be increased and (b) if your income is low or you get certain benefits you may be able to get the (£30?) fee waived?
