Tesco DVD Rental with 1000 Clubcard Points Bonus

Just got an e-mail from Tesco about 1000 bonus clubcard points when you sign up (make first payment) to their DVD rental service.

Below is the conditions which were at the bottom of the e-mail.

To qualify for the extra 1,000 Clubcard Points you must register for Tesco DVD Rental with the correct promotional code TDRAPR and make your first DVD Rental monthly payment. This excludes any discounted package, e.g. gift voucher purchases. Points will be awarded in your May or August statement, depending on when your first payment is made. The introductory offer expires on 15/05/2007 and cannot be combined with any other offer. Limited to one per household. First time customers only.

Since the cheapest value option is £4.97, you can then get 1000 points worth £10 in store or £40 in clubcard deals!! Then just cancel!!

Any idea whether this is ok for people who may have previously used Lovefilm, as Tesco is operated through Lovefilm?

Not sure Martin only just got the e-mail, I'm with Love film at the moment too (they gave me a free christmas deal).

We can only try. I think it depends if Tesco have their own system or just refer you to the Love Film page. I used Sainsbury's before and they had their own web page but the discs came from Love Film.

I'll be trying it anyway. Could you do it in say your partners name?

.. probably not as the address would be the same. Can't really use a family address as my clubcard is my credit card registered at my address. Anyway, I've mailed them to ask the rules on this vague "promotion that a friend mentioned to me but didn't know many details" so when I get a reply, I'll post it here. That may be some time, as an automated response apologised for them being incredibly busy at the mo.

I have just signed up for this offer using my partners name .
I had already signed up for an offer through tesco about a year ago and cancelled it after the first few payments so when i tried for this offer the message came up saying my email address was already registered .
I simply changed the email address to my partners and used his name but the same address and the same credit card as the original account .
It went through ok , you get the first disc free , send it back get your second disc and then send this back a few days later . You then need to cancel immediately as the disc must be in 2 days before your next payment date for the cancellation to take effect .

The offer says you get the bonus points when you make your first payment though so you need to make at least 1 payment. Do you know if they take a payment as soon as you sign up or do they wait a bit? (14 day trial) (obviously 1st disc free for value packages)

If you sign up via Quidco, they are offered £4 cashback to sign up to DVD rental too!

Tesco are saying that anyone who has held a Lovefilm account before will not be entitled to the free trial (no surprise), nor be entitled to the 1000 points (surprising to me as that has nothing to do with lovefilm, so what does it matter?).

Anyway.. more than one way to skin a cat eh folks?
