Tax on 2nd job

Apologies if I am in the wrong forum, I earn 21k in my full time job and want to take on 2nd job, for experience to progress my career, not for the money as it only pays about £150 a month gross. Will I be taxed etc and does anyone know by how much?
Thanks for reading.

Yes it will be taxed at Basic Rate tax code at 20% on it all as your current job will most likely be on the tax code that includes your tax free allowance.

    That's been my experience anyway

Provided you have not just started working and you have a standard tax code, all of your tax-free allowance will be used up in your full-time job. Therefore anything you earn in a part-time job will be taxed at 20% - just as it would if you earned that additional amount in your full-time occupation.

However, whereas if you earned the additional pay with your full-time employer you would also have NI deducted from it, I believe £150 a month would not attract NI deductions in the proposed separate employment.

It's well under the threshold for NI (£146 per week) so no NI to pay but BR for income tax
