I made a prawn curry with defrosted raw prawns on Sunday. It has been in the fridge but there is still a lot left.
Can I freeze it? The prawns were previously frozen in their raw state, so are they OK to refreeze now they're cooked?
Thanks

Personally I wouldn't,I made the mistake of freezing the leftovers from a Special Chinese Curry that had prawns in it & then defrosting & eating,I ended up quite ill....0

In theory, no different to freezing anything else that's been cooked, but as above, for some reason, I'm always wary about seafood - probably because I've been ill off it too!0

Thanks! Better safe than sorry.14 projects in 2014: 3/140

I'm the same - most things I would freeze if I knew I couldn't get through it in time, but something like that with prawns in it, that's been in the fridge for a few days I would be wary of!Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!0

You could have frozen it on the day you'd cooked it. But leaving a cooked seafood in the fridge for a couple of days is a bad idea in itself. If you want to have a prawn curry two days running the best thing is to make the base sauce, take half out and only defrost and add the prawns for the second day when you're reheating the sauce. The prawns will taste better anyway, reheating cooked prawn dishes usually turns prawns a bit tough and tasteless.Val.0

In general it's fine to use a frozen raw product, cook it then refreeze it. However, you should have done this ideally on the day you cooked it. I would probably give this a miss now though considering how long its been in the fridge.Sealed Pot Challenge #239

I rarely say this but having actually been hospitalised for a very bad case of food poisoning vis~a~vie prawns I would bin it as soon as possible double wrapped so even a cat can't get it.0

The Fella had one prawn out of a tub that had been open for two days in the fridge. I'd already told him to throw the tub out, but he decided he knew better
Half an hour later, he came out in hives, was itching, getting wheezy, dizzy - turns out there is a particular strand of food poisoning from prawns/seafood that is just like allergies in symptoms. Had it been the day before, he would have been driving down the motorway by then, instead of trailing round the supermarket for me to spot it and buy some antihistamines for emergency treatment.
So no, do not freeze or attempt to eat those prawns.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0
