Drinks come under grocery shopping as on the SOA I linked too plus your asked to enter how many cars there are(i presume theres 1 but is there more than 1) and again for children i presume theres 1 since you mention school trips and meals but is that for 1 child or 2, 3 etc.0 -

3 mobile phones
internet is virgin as part of a tv, internet , phone bundle approx £45 i added the £7 tv to make it up to the £45.
two adults and two children in the house
two cars
as for drinking we enjoy a drink in the house and enjoy going out once a fortnight spending £100 each time.
I can see as i type this that i need to cut down on the drinking.

it does look a little incomplete.. any chance you can transfer your figures to the soa DCFC posted so we can see a little better what you have coming in and out. Do you have any debt? cc's etc....
Judging from the figures you supplied you should have at least £800 spare per month, though I suspect in reality this isn't happening is it?
Dont worry though you earn fantastic wages, so with a few tweaks you should be able to save loads!0 -

You really need to fill in the usual SOA format but on first glance it looks like you have tons of money left anyway, and even if you didn't there are some HUGE expenses! You are very lucky! Most people on here would love to even have £20 for "family days out".
So if you need to cut down it will be very easy and you could clear any debts in no time.Officially Mrs B as of March 2013

I know I'm new to this forum, and shoot me down if like, but...
I think the OP is taking the mick a little - asking how to save money, yet has an income of circa 5k a month, very little debt outgoings, but puts things in SOA such as £700 savings, £100 'big days out' £100 'family days out' £216 'drinking' etc etc etc...
Lets be honest, if you really need to ask "how to save money" then looking at these items alone should scream the answer?
£5 k monthly income including investment returns....
Trying to rub folk up in my opinion.
Sorry if this is actually genuine, and if so, there will be so so many ways where you can save money!

I am genuine and not trying to rub people up the wrong way. I may have a decent wage and so does my partner but we have lots and lots of small debts on credit cards and buy now pay later deals on furniture and 0% deals on argos etc. We just feel that we have lost control of our money and savings. The £700 savings are being skimmed all the time to pay for things that come up ie car insurance, birthdays, xmas etc. the account that i save in has £68 in it.
I know i am in a more fortunate place than some but it does show you that if you do not take control of your earnings and think that you can just buy what you want and that another store card or 0% deal wont make a difference it does and i suppose what i need is a simple system to control our money.
ps child benefit only paid on one child (one is fostered)0
