Temporary work and jobseekers

My wife will be made redundant this week and she will be seeking employment. Although she would prefer full time permanent, all that seems to be available is temporary part time. If she takes a job of say 16hrs per week until January where does she stand regarding jobseekers allowance. Will she be eligible for 26 weeks from ending a temporary job. She leaves her current full time job after over 20 years and will not be claiming for means tested benefits, as I am in full time employment.
Do you have to declare savings if you are not claiming means tested benefit?
Many thanks.

Her eligiblility for contribution based JSA is dependent on having paid sufficient NI contributions. Whether the most recent job was temporary is not a relevant issue.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

she should go here and start the claim to begin when her last day of work is, note that she won't get any money for the first 3 days (i think that's right)
she will get to go and see the JSA people - but don't expect them to tell her about any other benefits she might be entitled to. instead she can go here and see what else she could get.

Eligibility
To qualify for Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) you must be:- looking for work, able to work and available for work
- aged 18 or over but below State Pension age - there are some exceptions for 16 to 17 year olds
- working less than 16 hours a week
- living in England, Scotland or Wales
The amount of contribution-based JSA you can get might go down if you have:- earnings from part-time work
- an occupational or personal pension
Hope this helps
Good Luck
