Concerned about baby's development

  • Baby's can't read the books that say what they should do.
My darling daughter was born at 24 weeks and was obviously a slower starter.
I don't remember her crawling, but she seemed to scramble on her bum
Don't panic all children are different.
Be carefull what you wish for though, remember the old saying -
teach them to walk and talk and then spend the rest of your life telling them to sit down and shut up.
    Best wishes.

REALLY don't worry. I was worried like you wouldn't believe with my first because he couldn't sit up at all for ages. He was crawling at about 6 months, but for love nor money could not sit up. I was envisioning back problems, weak spine, etc etc. He only managed to sit up straight at about 10 months old, when he was almost walking. In other words, in no way did he follow the "order" of development they tell you in books is normal. My second did the same. Both are apparently slow at learning to speak, but goodness me, you can't shut the eldest one up now, even though he couldn't say more than one or two intelligible words until 3 and a half. They really do all learn at different stages, and if there is a problem, then there's plenty of help out there. As someone else said, no one will care once he's older. Whether you learn to walk at 1, 2 or 3 will make no difference.

That actually makes me feel better. I've been worrying because my LO (7 months) can't sit up on her own. If you balance her she's stable but she can't get up without being pulled up.

Both of my dd's were full term and they never hardly sat up alone, both didn't crawl til they were over 12 months and didn't walk until they were a year and a half. Every baby is so different. It did worry me slightly but turns out they were both bloody lazy x

My DS3 was exactly the same - he's 2.10 now and he can now move faster than me - especially when its bed time !!
