I shouldn't have discovered the poll button... Anyway, this one is as thread title, and depending on outcome, I'll hook up a thread in Site Feedback and link the two. All nonny mouse too

I think another one (or 2) would help, agree with Blulu*Katie*

How do you volunteer to be a BG? I'm on Competitions Time a lot and would love to give something back. I am often available in the day as I work evenings.0

From the Forum Guide FAQ
HOW DO YOU BECOME A BOARD GUIDE?
Board Guides are dedicated users who want to give something back to the site.
Now and then we post on the Site Feedback board or individual boards asking for volunteers. Generally, the Board Guide picked would be someone who uses a particular board and already understands how it works. An enthusiasm for keeping that board running smoothly and helping newbies find the information they need quickly and easily is the key.
For obvious reasons, if the Forum Team has received reports about a particular poster that person won't normally be considered for a Board Guide position.0 -
I didn't want to vote, cos I'm not sure of the answer, but it doesn't really make sense to have only three when this board moves so fast each day. There are some boards that have many more BGs and they don't appear to be needed because their board is slow.
How about drafting one in from a lesser used board?0 -

I think,in an ideal scenario, that any extra BG,if any are added, should be a "comper" that uses this board.
At least that way they would be starting with a knowledge base of the way things work on here & what is needed.0 -
I think the current BGs do a great job and I have always found them to be prompt and helpful with merge requests. However, obviously they can't be on here all the time and Competitions Time is a busy board so another BG to split the workload could be helpful. I have noticed that other boards, which are not as busy, have more BGs. I hope the BGs will let us know what they think.0

I was thinking from the other way round - that it might be easier teaching someone about the jobs to do (that they may already have some knowledge of if they comp), rather than teaching someone how to merge, edit etc ...
But my 2 cents ain't worth much0 -
Worth as much as mine,OneYorkshireLass
I'm confused as to what you mean though.Do you mean it would be better for someone that does not comp/use this board to come in or that it's better that someone that is a on here move to the role?0 -

I mean someone who is already a BG on another board to take it on. I'm not saying there will be anyone who wants to, but I just thought it would be easier for the MSE team if they didn't have to explain to a new BG how the system works with regards to merging etc. And explaining to a current BG that some comps need merging is probably much easier and quicker to explain.
Hope that makes sense ...
... it probably won't be a welcome opinion, but I'm used to that ...0
