Cheap SSD - What's the catch?

Options
Hi,

I have found the Samsung 830 128GB for £68.33 at WAE+. It says in the item description:
This is a european model, provided with suitable adapters for UK use, where required.
See:
http://www.waeplus.co.uk/product/1292415/SAMSUNG-830-Series-Internal-SSD---128-GB

I don't have a problem with it being a European model but what (warranty) implications does that have? The Samsung 830 usually comes with a 3 year warranty but apparently not this one:
12 Month Warranty included
How come?

Thanks for your insights.

As a grey import, I would expect that it is WAE who will be providing the warranty rather than Samsung.
  • When did the UK get moved from Europe.

I looked into WAEplus and grey imports. Both convinced me that I will not go ahead with the purchase.

Since the Tories got back into power. ;)
  • I would have thought that every 830 came with a 3 year manufacturer warranty if not then I would wonder why.
You can buy them with three years cover for £80

The 830 is being replaced by the 840 at the moment, so some good deals around on the 830.

I would not waste your money on this company - do a quick google search for WAE+ and you will see what I mean, I have just had a real fight to get my £200 back, with them saying items "allocated" then not sent as they think it was damaged, but will not let you cancel, them actually sending a damaged item after 2 weeks,

You are on hold over 20 minutes, the customer care people cannot see if items dispatched as warehouse are overseas...they are basically drop shipping - and terrible at it.

They only refunded when I informed them I had given my credit card company the false tracking number they had given me (whcih they admitted two days later was not a tracking number for my item, and they had made an "error".

I had an SSD fail on me after a month or two; I took it back to PC World and got a refund.
