Harlands Administration Charges

Hi,

This is my first ever post so apologies if it's in the wrong forum...

Basically I joined Pure Gym last month and was assured my first monthly payment would be taken on pay day (26th October) and it was.

However I have just received an email from Harlands stating they are going to charge me £20 on top of a the returned DD of £17.99 (£37.99 total) as they state the DD was returned due to "Insufficient Funds" ...

HOWEVER ... The payment from Harlands was taken at the same time as work were paying me my monthly wage, and before Harlands had even returned the DD a whole months wage had been put into my account.

Can I argue with Harlands on this? They state:

We can confirm your payment due on the 26th October returned to us unpaid due to insufficient funds. As such we have resubmitted this payment to be taken on the 7th November for £37.99. This is due to a £20 administration fee which is added to all missed payments, and is outlined in the terms and conditions of the membership agreed upon joining.

Your membership is unaffected and will not be suspended unless this payment is not met. Following this your payments of £17.99 will resume as normal on the 26th of each month.

HELP !!?!?!?!??!?!?!

It sounds like there was insufficient funds in your account to cover the DD payment. But you said it was payday, how are you paid? bacs or just bank transfer, cheque?
