We have recently moved house and have inherited a truly horrible oven which I am finding impossible. I saw a reduced Crockpot Rice Cooker in Lakeland and have bought it. And now I'm wondering if I've been sensible. Before I use it (it does plain rice and rice dishes like spanish rice and rice puds, and also will appently saute veg etc which I would find very helpful as I make a lot of nice stews etc) I just wonder if anyone has one and finds it good. We eat a lot of ricey things so it seemed good at the time, but I haven't used it yet and now have cold feet ! I can still return it, so am wondering whether to.....HELP !

I love this forum ! The fact that no one seems to have one of these has decided me to return it to Lakeland - who were really nice about it (I haven't used it). It is huge and really won't be helpful I don't think. gadgets here have to earn the space they sit in. So even if a post gets no replies it's still helpful. Ah well, off to the Post Office with it now0

As an alternative to your oven, have you looked at a combination microwave? Our house came with a very old, broken oven (missing the main door, and you'd probably have more luck cooking with a magnifying glass than with the grill - but we asked them to leave it simply for the hobs and to not have a gaping hole in the middle of the kitchen!) so one of the first things we did was pop to Argos fora combination microwave. It's actually been fab - though there is only the two of us to cook for. We're going to buy a new oven in the January sales but I think I'll still keep using the combination microwave for a lot of stuff as it's so convenient.0

What about a slowcooker? i love mine.
I have to say a rice cooker would be wasted on me, we don't eat much rice and if we do i get the boil in the bag rice so i don't have to stand over it.DEC GC £463.67/£450

I don't think we eat enough rice to make this a good buy, and actually I have got a remoska which I LOVE, so I think I just got carried away by my liking for gadgets ! Thank you for sensible alternative suggestions :beer:0
