Missing Wage

Hello looking for some help and advice,
My gf has recently been sacked for having too many days of sick 4 periods totalling 7 days. We are appealing this! what are peoples thoughts on our chances on this?
Also she was due to be paid on thur 25th Oct but was not! she phoned today to find out what was happening and they said that they had messed up the amount she was due and had cancelled the payment so now it will take upto 2 weeks for her to be paid!
We have bills and things due to come out of her account and no money to pay it now!
Can the company do this or what rights do we have?

Looks like you will have to get some of your money into her account till its sorted out I'm afraid. You did say 'our' bills

    Hope it's soon
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

4 periods totalling 7 days, but you do not say how long for. If for a full year then I would say that sacking is harsh. Were any of them covered by a doctors note? Was there a patern, eg. all next to a weekend or bank holiday?

Also the length of total employment, if over a year then previous history is relevant.

hi thanks for all the replies she has worked there for almost 2 years.
the 7 days was for the calendar year to date! It included one period of 4 consecutive days and 3 periods of 1 day all were self certificates. there were no patterns.
Yeah we can shift money about to pay the bills I just dont feel its right that they can withold her pay plus they had made no effort to contact us and infom us of the situation.

4 periods of absence within a year would trigger disciplinary action and as harsh as it seems if they followed the book it's not exactly what you'd call unreasonable! To them 4 periods is a lot, regardless as to the actual length that's still 4 seperate periods and you say 3 of them were single days - which could in their eyes appear like 3 days where OH was too hungover or just couldn't be bothered.

The missing payment however is unreasonable - if it's their !!!! up it's NOT reasonable to wait a further 2 weeks for them to fix it.
