Hives. Contagious or Not?

You know he may also be allergic to the betnovate - just to muddy the waters
Im allergic to camomile lotion - great when I had chicken pox - not
Keep on with the piriton - it does reduce swelling and itching and leave off the betnovate for a while - see if that improves matters?
Obviously you will want to discuss this with your GP0 -
Several years ago my daughter came out in a spectacular case of hives (urticaria). It was so weird, it was kind of beautiful. It looked like somebody had drawn an intricate pattern all over her body - face, torso, limbs).
Our next door neighbour had just got a rabbit. DD had cuddled it - hives was the result.
She took a couple of days of piriton and it disappeared.
Contagious - definately not.0 -
I had terrible terrible hives a few years ago - full blown urticaria from head to toe, inside my ears, throat and nose. My lips too - especially the top one. I looked like I'd been in the ring with Tyson
The only thing that worked for me was Piriton syrup - don't know why. The tablets weren't as effective.
I was sent to the skin clinic/allergy clinic for tests but they never did get to the bottom of it. It lasted for about 8 months then stopped as suddenly as it started. I noticed it flared up if I had chillies, toms and strawbs. But I eat them all regularly now and did before and I've not had an attack since.
Head to toe - no kidding. And it was itchy as hell
ETA : sorry, to answer your question, no I am 100% sure they're not contagious.0 -
I suffer from urticaria/hives frequently its not contagious, just a little tip ask your gp if they can prescribe Alphaderm its been a life saver for me.0

Been back to the GP today and he has changed the diagnosis to Uticaria. Said hubby is to come off all meds for 3-4 days and introduce them back afterwards. If there has been no change during this time it is then back to the drawing board as in the meantime i said i will also swap washing detergent and remove softners. So first load has gone in with Surecare and white vinegar to use as an alternative softener. IF this fails we need to strongly start ruling out pet allergies - we have had them for 6 years and so am really hoping its not the dander at fault.
