Hi lovelies
I have a solid oak worktop and where the sink is, the worktop behind has been one discoloured and almost mouldy due water being left there. Scrubbing it doesn't achieve much, any ideas about how best to clean it?
Many Thanks

Whatever it is, it should come off with a scrub, what are you using at the moment?
that hasn't worked.
I just give mine a wipe over with the dishcloth. Seems to work okay.0 -

If it's solid oak, you can always sand it down. We have a wooden work top and we try to regularly sand down stained patches and then treat it with oil. It's important to keep it well oiled and dry though, try to wipe your sink area down after every use. Wooden work tops are lovely but they are very porous so stain easily. Hopefully sanding and treating it will make it look a bit betterNovember Grocery Challenge = £83.47/£1500

Sounds like the wood has got saturated and it's gone mouldy. You'll need to dry it out in some way...put a rolled towel along it and blot hard, put fresh towel behind while washing up to catch splashes, remove and allow wood to air out. Once dry sand and then oil well every day of necessary and don't allow it to get too wet after this. Or fit a rubber strip on top to allow splashes to drain off back into the sink.Val.0
