Hello,
i'm in the process of applying for an IVA and have been advised to open a new bank account with Nationwide. Just a basic one with DD and no other facilities.
Its been soooo long since i first opened my account i have no idea what to do or where to start.
What do i need to take with me?
How long will it take to initially set up?
how long to take affect?
And lastly how do i set up me direct debits with it?
In the past ive taken no notice of how my direct debits were set up( terrible!)
they just all seemed to happen. e.g my internt account, do i just go in and say i use aol for internet and they can set up my DD?
Thanks for any help.

There is a spreadsheet on the Payplan website that tells which creditors have links with what banks. Heres the link to that thread. http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=155880 If you cant find that spreadsheet PM me your email address and I will send it to you. Depends if you want a debit card or not ..
The Nationwide would be a good basic account and they report account conduct to the credit reference agencies (which helps to rebuild a good credit record if you need to) but you may not get a debit card as they are notoriously fussy about giving them out ..
The Halifax do they 'Easycash' account with comes with a Visa Electron debit card however counter service can be limited with this account (You'll be required to use the all singing all dancing cash machines instead! But check that out ... if might differ in some branches!):happylove Tori Bellatrix :happylove
