I wrote a letter of complaint to equifax at the beginning of August and havent yet heard back from them.
I think I've left it long enough. Where do I escalate this matter to now if they fail to respond? It's a complaint about there service.

What sort of complaint about their service?
If they are holding inaccurate data about you then you may be able to complain to the ICO.
See: http://www.ico.gov.uk/complaints/handling/complain.aspx
If it about other aspects of their service, including how they handle any dispute over wrong info, then also see:
http://www.equifax.com/help/q32/en_uk
As per that, you can complain to the Financial Ombudsman.
